Drinking Game Avalanche (aka “Three”)
Avalanche, also known as Three, is a fast-paced drinking game built on risk, timing, and luck. It can be played with any number of players and requires only one six-sided die and a shared game glass.
Players sit in a circle, and play moves counterclockwise.
How to Play
1. On your turn, add any amount of your drink to the game glass.
- A small pour is safer if you end up drinking it
- A larger pour increases the risk—but may force someone else to pay the price
2. After pouring, roll the die and follow the rule tied to the number rolled.
Dice Rules
1 – No Event
Nothing happens. Pass the die and glass to the next player.
2 – Double It
Double the amount of liquid in the glass, or fill it to the top—whichever is less. Then pass.
3 – Drink
The current player must drink the entire game glass.
4 – “FLOOR!”
The current player shouts “Floor!”
All players must immediately point downward.
The last person to react drinks the glass.
5 – Roll Again
Roll the die again:
- If another 5 is rolled, the player gains Power Fives and may choose any player to drink the glass.
- Any other number is resolved normally.
6 – No Event
Nothing happens. Pass the die and glass.
Elimination Rules
- If a player is forced to drink the game glass and has not finished it by the time play returns to them, they are eliminated.
- Any player who drinks three full game glasses is also eliminated.
When the game glass is finished, a new glass is started, and play continues with the next player after the one who drank.
Winning the Game
The last remaining player wins.
Avalanche rewards patience and quick reactions—overpouring and hesitation tend to end games early.
